There are a few varieties of automatic pool cleaners. The first is a suctionside pool cleaner. Some pools already have a dedicated pipe for this type of cleaner. It has a long moulded plastic hose that connects a cleaning unit to filter suction, plugged into an intake pipe below the pools skimmer basket. When the suction side unit is connected and the filter is running, the cleaner will move in a random pattern across the floor and sides of the pool. Pulses of water will naturally propel the unit. Brushes are attached to the underside and have the ability to detach particles of debris. Suction carries the debris to the filter.
Inground pool cleaners function under the concept of Hydraulics. They were invented by a Belgian Congoborn engineer named Ferdinand Chauvier. He transferred to South Africa and invented the first automatic pool cleaner in 1951, as a solution to the tedious and repetitive task of poolcleaning. His invention does not require the use of any harmful chemicals and it functions together with a pool filter. In 1974, the very first commerciallyavailable automatic cleaner was released by the same inventor.
However, its important to be aware that robotic cleaners are not as easy to repair as other cleaners. Most of all, its important to keep in mind that robotic cleaners, with their advanced technology and exceptional cleaning power, come with higher prices than pressureside or suctionside automatic pool cleaners. Pool cleaners come in two categories, domestic or residential and commercial. Domestic robot pool cleaners also come in two subcategories, above or in ground pools. Once you have these two things are figured out, you can sift through pool cleaners within the targeted category and compare specifications and prices.
