Pool Cleaner. Sunday , February 25th , 2018 - 14:30:21 PM
My oh my where do I begin? Ill try not to give my age away here but, I remember when Kreepy Kraulys were one of the first automatic pool cleaners on the market. Infact in 1974 the very first models were actually made of wood and rubber tubing. People lucky enough to have had one of those Pinochio Bots absolutley loved them. Ive heard stories from folks (my grandfather of course) who desperately tried to keep them operational by using coat hangers, duct tape and glue. Kreepy Kraulys were actually sold door to door at one time. Their salespeople were quite clever in the presentation or should I say demonstration.
They require a dedicated line for suction or a skimmer outlet is used. They are very good cleaners and can pick up very fine debris in a swimming pool. No separate pump to operate no extra time clock can all relate to more money in parts and higher energy cost. However I feel their not very good in a pool with a large amount of pool debris. The leaves that get sucked up go to a separate canister or to the pool pump basket. The other down side is most tend to do well only in a pool with no deep end more of an even depth such as a play pool.
These inground pool cleaners connect to the return side of the circulation system of your pool. Water that is pumped back to the pool is used to power these cleaners. Pressureside cleaners for inground swimming pools have an internal vacuum bag for collection dirt and debris. Sometimes pressureside cleaners can run off your pool pump and sometimes they will require a dedicated cleaner line and booster pump depending on the model of pool cleaner. Deciding whether youll need a dedicated cleaner line and booster pump basically depends on the model of pool cleaner, along with whether your pools existing pump can provide enough pressure to power the automatic pool cleaner.
