Pool Cleaner. Thursday , February 22nd , 2018 - 15:53:29 PM
There are a few varieties of automatic pool cleaners. The first is a suctionside pool cleaner. Some pools already have a dedicated pipe for this type of cleaner. It has a long moulded plastic hose that connects a cleaning unit to filter suction, plugged into an intake pipe below the pools skimmer basket. When the suction side unit is connected and the filter is running, the cleaner will move in a random pattern across the floor and sides of the pool. Pulses of water will naturally propel the unit. Brushes are attached to the underside and have the ability to detach particles of debris. Suction carries the debris to the filter.
That being said you would have to manually alternate the cleaner and skimmer operation. Basic Pool with Dedicated Cleaner Line: This is where a line has been plumbed from the side wall of the pool back to the suction side of the pump. A correct installation of such a line would include a valve that allows you to control the amount of water being drawn through the dedicated line thus allowing speed control of the respective cleaner. Each manufactures cleaner and model will specify the correct speed of the cleaner by either providing a gauge in which to measure the cleaners speed at time of installation or a automatic bypass valve that regulates the cleaners speed.
They require a dedicated line for suction or a skimmer outlet is used. They are very good cleaners and can pick up very fine debris in a swimming pool. No separate pump to operate no extra time clock can all relate to more money in parts and higher energy cost. However I feel their not very good in a pool with a large amount of pool debris. The leaves that get sucked up go to a separate canister or to the pool pump basket. The other down side is most tend to do well only in a pool with no deep end more of an even depth such as a play pool.
