They require a dedicated line for suction or a skimmer outlet is used. They are very good cleaners and can pick up very fine debris in a swimming pool. No separate pump to operate no extra time clock can all relate to more money in parts and higher energy cost. However I feel their not very good in a pool with a large amount of pool debris. The leaves that get sucked up go to a separate canister or to the pool pump basket. The other down side is most tend to do well only in a pool with no deep end more of an even depth such as a play pool.

The Aquabot Basic and its big brother Aquabot Turbo are the first two models running on tracks rather than wheels. They are both designed for square shaped pools. The Turbo requires 4 hours of labour to clean a pools floor, walls and waterline. Account for 2 more hours for the Basic to do the same job, which makes it 30percents slower, but does produce the same quality results. If you have a need for maximum flexibility, look into the Aquabot Turbo T series, which are all equipped with tracks and brushes.
